Sexting, cyber-bullying, sexual harassment, youth and the law, drugs and mental health some of topics addressed by program
CLEARVIEW and SPRINGWATER TWP & WASAGA BEACH–A new program called OPP KIDS was introduced into 13 elementary schools in the Huronia West Detachment area this year.
The program addresses key concerns being dealt with by today’s youth. Sexting, cyber-bullying, sexual harassment, youth and the law, drugs and mental health were some of the key topics discussed during this new six week in school program.
The OPP KIDS program has been well-received by both students and educators. The OPP KIDS program replaces the DARE program and is presented to Grade 6 students.
As a result of successfully completing the program hundreds of grade 6 students are attending this year’s celebration at Stayner High School and Elmvale District High School. This course end celebration will consist of specialty units presentations, an interactive video game designed for students by the OPP, fun with the OPP museum and a chance for the kids to get up close with OPP vehicles.
Event Dates are May 7 from noon to 2 p.m. at Stayner Colligate Institute and May 12 at Elmvale District High School 9:45am to 11:45 a.m.
